CAST

Amy is a Winnipeg-born, Toronto-based performer, playwright, producer, and educator. In addition to performing at YPT (You and I, James and the Giant Peach, Cinderella: A RATical Retelling, Here to Hear, The Invisible Girl, Hana’s Suitcase), Amy has assistant directed (Annie, Emily’s Piano), and taught thousands of students through her work as a Resident Artist Educator. She is Co-Artistic Director of U.N.I.T. Productions and plays Jasp in the Dora- and Canadian Comedy Award-winning clown duo Morro and Jasp, which has allowed her to tour all over the world making people laugh. Recent performance credits include Halina in Indecent at the Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre and Rachel in Appropriate at The Coal Mine Theatre (Dora Award for Outstanding Production). She has also played at Factory Theatre, Common Boots Theatre, Theatre Brouhaha, Winnipeg Jewish Theatre, Manitoba Theatre for Young People, Carousel Players, and more.

Megan Murphy is a Toronto-based actor and writer from the East Coast. Their recent theatre credits include: Onion Skins and Peach Fuzz: The Farmerettes (4th Line Theatre), and Perky (Ottawa Fringe Festival/Notable Acts). Their recent television/film credits include: Devil in Disguise: John Wayne Gacy (Peacock/NBC), Do I Know You From Somewhere? (Arianna Martinez, TIFF 2024), as well as their recurring role in Murdoch Mysteries (CBC). 

David is Dora Award-winning actor. He was born and raised in Jamaica and moved to Canada to pursue a career in theatre. Theatre credits include: Disney’s Frozen The Broadway Musical (Theatre Aquarius); A Strange Loop (Soulpepper Theatre); La Cage aux Folles, Wendy & Peter Pan (Stratford Festival); Charlie in Brigadoon (Shaw Festival/5th season); Harold Dawson in A Few Good Men (Drayton Entertainment); Escape To Margaritaville (Theatre Calgary); Beadle in Sweeney Todd, Choreographer for Into The Woods (Talk Is Free Theatre); David Heard in Choir Boy (Canadian Stage); Movement Director for Blackout (Musical Stage); The Color Purple (Neptune Theatre). Stephen is the Associate Artistic Director & Literary Manager at Young People’s Theatre (YPT). Past productions at YPT include: Director/Dramaturg for Selfie, The Fixing Girl, Wicked Nix and Co-Director/Dramaturg for Antigone: 方; Dramaturgy for over two dozen world premieres including: Hana’s Suitcasei think i canScarberiaSultans of the Street and Minotaur (YPT/Polka Theatre/Theatr Clwyd); Co-adaptor of Love You Forever… And More Munsch and Munschtime!. His work for other theatres includes: Director – Tiny Treasures, Snow White (MTYP); Dramaturgy – Alameda Theatre, Marionetas de la Esquina/Kennedy Center, fu-Gen Theatre, Theatre Direct, and The Paprika Festival. He has served on the boards of LMDA, LMDA Canada and ASSITEJ Canada, where he was president for five years. 

Karen is the Associate Artistic Director, Education for YPT. She is an Ontario Certified Teacher and holds a Masters of Arts in Drama from the University of Toronto. Karen has worked for several arts organizations in Toronto and across Canada including the National Arts Centre. She consults regularly and sits on several boards and advisory committees. She was the Co-Director on Antigone:方 and Assistant Director on The Power of Harriet T! (2013), Hana’s Suitcase (2015) and Pinocchio (2019) at YPT.

Sue is thrilled that this show is happening at YPT! As well as directing/co-adapting the original production of Love You Forever and More Munsch, she also directed James and the Giant Peach. Recently, Sue directed Bad Hats Alice in Wonderland (Soulpepper Theatre, Ontario Tour, MTYP). For Montreal’s TYA company Jeunesses Musicales, Sue adapted 5 Rumi Fables with music by the Iranian-Canadian Composers of Toronto, directed the very funny children’s opera Orphea and the Golden Harp, and co-created Victory Quest an action-adventure performed by Duo Percussion. She directed Petra (Theatre Direct), Blush (Carousel Players), and Chalmers Award-winning Belonging by Rex Deverell. For many years Sue has worked extensively with Puppetmongers Theatre where she directed Foolish Tales for Foolish Times, Bed and Breakfast, and Cinderella in Muddy York which won the “Citation of Excellence in the Art of Puppetry” founded by Jim Henson at the American Center of the Union Internationale de la Marionette. As an actor, she toured extensively with TNB’s Young Company and Regina’s Globe Theatre School Tour. Born in Montreal, Sue now lives in Toronto with her husband/best friend Mark Brownell, children Lily and Gavin, and cats Cecily and Ralph.

Jung A. is a set and costume designer based in Stratford, Ontario. She grew up and worked professionally as a designer in Seoul, South Korea, before relocating to Canada, where she continues to expand her artistic practice. Born in Singapore, Jareth is a stage designer now based in Toronto by way of Calgary. He has a love for new work that examines identity politics, culture, and heritage. He is excited to be back at YPT again! For YPT: Charlie and The Chocolate Factory, The Fixing Girl, Risky Phil. Olivia is a mixed-race Chinese Canadian sound designer and composer. Sabrina Weinstein is a stage manager, producer and multi-disciplinary theatre artist, as well as a graduate of University of Toronto’s Centre for Drama Theatre and Performance Studies. Most recently she has been on tour in Paris (France), Los Angeles and San Francisco (USA) as the Assistant Stage Manager for magician Xavier Mortimer’s Xtraordinaire. Apprentice Stage Management credits include: Bad Roads (Crow’s Theatre), Grease (Drayton Entertainment) and Maanomaa; My Brother (Canadian Stage). Recent stage management credits include: Earworm (Crow’s / Nowadays Theatre), Fertility (Light Echo Theatre), Carried by the River (Red Snow Collective), Twice The Speed of Lightning (Mixed Theatre Company) and The Strange and Eerie Memoirs of Billy Wuthergloom (Eldritch Theatre). Upcoming, she will be rounding out her apprentice stage management journey on Finding Neverland with Drayton Entertainment.
