Allen MacInnis Legacy Campaign

After 19 successful seasons as Artistic Director at YPT, Allen MacInnis stepped down at the end of the 2020.21 season. He is the longest-serving Artistic Director in the theatre’s 55-year-history. To celebrate Mr. MacInnis’s 40-year-career, half of which has been devoted to YPT, a fund was established as part of YPT’s Room for Imagination expansion project. The Allen MacInnis Legacy Campaign honoured Mr. MacInnis’s remarkable impact as a visionary artist, compelling educator and inspiring leader in the Theatre for Young Audiences community.

Beginning with generous leadership gifts from Martha Burns & Paul Gross and an anonymous donor, and additional donations from many of Allen’s current and former colleagues, artist collaborators and admirers, the Allen MacInnis Legacy Campaign collectively raised more than $105,000!

On behalf of all of us at YPT and the thousands of young people who participate in our expanding roster of theatrical arts and educational programming, we are tremendously grateful for this outpouring of support for Allen and his vision – to have a positive and lasting impact on the social, emotional and intellectual development of children through theatre. YPT is committed to serving Mr. MacInnis’s legacy through the naming of an educational space in Allen’s honour as part of our Room for Imagination expansion project. Thanks to your donations, Allen has been honoured with the Allen MacInnis Studio at YPT 161 Studios.
