In recognition of the importance of fieldwork experiences, YPT is proud to continue to offer professional placements throughout the year for students registered in Theatre or Drama-in-Education related programs at educational institutions. YPT is committed to providing placement opportunities within the organization that engages students in practical work, providing them with relevant training and experience for their future career path.
Students build strong connections with staff, meet like minded-students, acquire skills and experience, and make meaningful contributions to YPT programs and activities.
High School Students:
Our cooperative education (co-op) placements integrate students into the theatre environment, which helps them build essential skills that are transferable to many fields of study. Students will have the opportunity to work with departments throughout the theatre to get a broader picture of the organization. They are also often tasked with hands-on Front of House usher duties.
Field placements, job shadows and research opportunities are available to post-secondary students interested in the areas of Education & Participation, Development, Marketing or Production. Students are provided with valuable insight and mentorship in their area of interest as they work closely with YPT staff. Such opportunities can be provided depending on whether a department or program has the capacity and resources to host a student placement.

Interviews will be conducted to determine the suitability of the candidate. All applications are assessed on an individual basis, based on the capacities and experience that the candidate brings to the program and their ability to achieve the agreed upon goals of the placement.
