Parent Seminar: Borderline Personality Disorder
Young People’s Theatre is pleased to partner with The Hincks-Dellcrest Centre – Gail Appel Institute to present “A Primer on Borderline Personality Disorder” Parent Seminar, with Frank Yeomans MD, PhD, on March 7.
Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) is a common, and commonly misunderstood, condition that affects from 1.8 to 2 percent of the population. The symptoms of BPD include mood swings, feelings of emptiness and loneliness, inability to tolerate being alone, relationship difficulties, problems with eating, and substance abuse. These symptoms, combined with poor impulse control, can lead to destructive and self-destructive behaviours.
Registration Fee: $20 (per session)
This session is the latest in a series of parent seminars held at YPT that offer practical skills to promote children’s well-being and improve the lives of families. Parents, teachers and child development professionals will find these learning experiences filled with practical skills that can promote the well-being of children and improve the lives of families.
The Hincks-Dellcrest – Gail Appel Institute offers advanced education to those who work with children and families in a variety of mental health care professions and provides resources to parents and caregivers to support them with their children’s mental health care needs. Their mission is to build knowledge and capacity in children and families’ mental health.
The Hincks-Dellcrest Treatment Centre is a leading edge, non-profit children’s mental health centre offering a comprehensive range of innovative mental health services to infants, children, youth, and their families. Our vision is to bring hope, optimism, and possibilities to the children and families we serve.

6:30 PM – 7:00 PM: Doors open/registration
7:00 PM – 8:30 PM: Presentation

Workshop participants can look forward to practical, easy-to-implement strategies and creative approaches for parents that teach and encourage responsibility, self-motivation, and resiliency. There will be an emphasis on what is already working in our parenting. Participants will also share ideas for encouraging children to be solution builders in their own lives.
