SUMMARY:Artist Educators Training
DESCRIPTION:Artist Educators Training\nFebruary 1 & 2\, 2018\n9AM – 5PM \nLocation: Young People’s Theatre\, 165 Front St East\, Toronto\, ON\nCost: $75.00 for two days\nRegistration Deadline: January 19\, 2018 \nRegister Here \nDetails: \nThe YPT Artist Educators Training is open to all artists interested in arts education and with a desire to further develop their pedagogical skills through practical training. The first day is comprised of several modules\, each with a particular focus. These include: \n\n     lesson planning\,\n     fostering authentic engagement\,\n     developing techniques for classroom management\,\n     connecting learning to a specific text or arts experience\, and\n     creating ensemble-based exercises.\n\nThe second day begins with refining the participants’ plans and culminates in putting what they have created into action by facilitating workshops for children and young people. Throughout\, participants will work alongside one another and in concert with the invited youth to reflect on what makes an engaging workshop. \nBoth novice and experienced Artist Educators are welcome. This program will provide professional development for those working in school and community settings across arts disciplines\, but with a focus on theatre. \nThis program is made possible through funding from the Ada Slaight Education Centre at YPT\, and bursaries and travel subsidies are made possible this year by the generous support of the Ontario Arts Council. \nApplications for bursaries and travel subsidies are due by January 11\, 2018. \nIf you have questions\, or to apply for a bursary or travel subsidy\, contact Aimee Bouchard\, Member Schools & Education Manager at abouchard@youngpeoplestheatre.org or 416.363.5131 x216. \nArtist Educators Training at YPT\, September 2016.\nArtist Educators Training at YPT\, September 2016.\n \n\n“Organized\, productive\, passion-fuelled workshops don’t just fall from the sky. If they did\, I imagine you’d spend your days looking upward\, arms wide open to catch them. Alas\, they take a great deal of behind-the-scenes work\, and I wanted to thank you for all the time and thought you invested in making yesterday’s workshop the great success it was. It was energizing and inspiring.”\n– RAE and playwright of Hana’s Suitcase\, Emil Sher \n\n

SUMMARY:Sprucecourt Playwriting Festival
DESCRIPTION:Sprucecourt Playwriting Festival\nThe grade 4 and 5 students at Sprucecourt Public School have been hard at work writing their own short plays with the support of a professional playwright-in-residence. In May\, YPT will stage readings of their plays with professional actors here at the theatre. \nThis is just one of many ongoing enrichment projects as part of our Member Schools program\, through which we create long-term partnerships with specific schools throughout the GTA. \nInterested in becoming a YPT Member School? Contact Interim Member Schools Manager Aimee Bouchard at abouchard@youngpeoplestheatre.org or by calling 416.363.5131 x216.
