DESCRIPTION:Parent Seminar\n“Breathe in and Shine: Mindfulness-based Practices that Support Children and Families to Thrive”\nSara Marlowe MSW\, RSW \nYoung People’s Theatre is pleased to partner with The Hincks-Dellcrest Centre – Gail Appel Institute to present a Parent Seminar on April 11. This session is the latest in a series of parent seminars held at YPT that offer practical skills to promote children’s well-being and improve the lives of families. \nThis seminar will engage participants in a variety of age-appropriate ways to share mindfulness practice with children and parents\, infused with principles such as acceptance\, letting go\, patience\, non-judgement\, non-striving and compassion. It will explore the intersection of mindfulness and neuroscience and offer accessible\, creative and playful ways to share this exciting information with children and families. \nThe Hincks-Dellcrest – Gail Appel Institute offers advanced education to those who work with children and families in a variety of mental health care professions and provides resources to parents and caregivers to support them with their children’s mental health care needs. Their mission is to build knowledge and capacity in children and families’ mental health. \nThe Hincks-Dellcrest Treatment Centre is a leading edge\, non-profit children’s mental health centre offering a comprehensive range of innovative mental health services to infants\, children\, youth\, and their families. SUMMARY:Parent Seminar: Borderline Personality Disorder
DESCRIPTION:Young People’s Theatre is pleased to partner with The Hincks-Dellcrest Centre – Gail Appel Institute to present “A Primer on Borderline Personality Disorder” Parent Seminar\, with Frank Yeomans MD\, PhD\, on March 7. \nBorderline Personality Disorder (BPD) is a common\, and commonly misunderstood\, condition that affects from 1.8 to 2 percent of the population. The symptoms of BPD include mood swings\, feelings of emptiness and loneliness\, inability to tolerate being alone\, relationship difficulties\, problems with eating\, and substance abuse. These symptoms\, combined with poor impulse control\, can lead to destructive and self-destructive behaviours. \nRegistration Fee: $20 (per session) \nThis session is the latest in a series of parent seminars held at YPT that offer practical skills to promote children’s well-being and improve the lives of families.
