SUMMARY:Eagle Drum Girl
DESCRIPTION:EAGLE DRUM GIRL\nThis family-friendly event is inspired by the teachings of Elder Dr. Duke Redbird. Young People’s Theatre will perform a reading of Elder Redbird’s play\, Eagle Drum Girl\, and will feature Elder Redbird himself! \nThe premise of this inter-generational play is as follows: \n\n“Dan Eagle’s son and daughter-in-law want him to move into seniors’ residence instead of trying to fix the dilapidated shack he calls home. But Old Dan and his granddaughter\, Cheyenne have other ideas…” \n\nThis event will also include a talk by Elder Redbird\, as well as dance and drum performances. \nWHEN \nMonday\, August 5th\, 2019 \n1PM – 2:30PM \nWHERE \nTrillium Park Pavilion \n\nABOUT WIGWAM CHI-CHEMUNG \nWigwam Chi-Chemung is an art installation and Indigenous interpretive learning centre presented by Myseum in partnership with Duke Redbird. The 40ft pontoon houseboat covered with Indigenous artwork painted by muralist Phil Cote\, Duke Redbird\, and crew will be docked at the Ontario Place South Marina until October 2019. \nThroughout the summer\, Wigwam Chi-Chemung will hold public hours offering a place for people to engage with\, ask question of\, and learn from the perspectives of indigenous elders. \nAs the Presenting Partner\, Myseum will host a series of programs from June to August that further explore the heritage and achievements of Toronto’s Indigenous communities. \nAdditional partners hosting programs connected to Wigwam Chi-Chemung include Ontario Place\, Toronto Biennial of Art\, Summerworks Performance Festival\, and Young People’s Theatre. \nSupport for Wigwam Chi-Chemung provided by: Toronto Arts Council \nClick here to visit the Wigwam Chi-Chemung website\, and learn more about the variety of engaging events happening throughout the Summer!

SUMMARY:Antigone: 方 - Relaxed Performance
DESCRIPTION:Antigone: 方 – Relaxed Performance\nRelaxed Performances are well-suited to all young audiences and have been established to welcome people who will benefit from a more relaxed performance environment\, including people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). They can also be a good introductory experience for first-time theatregoers. The performance itself is unchanged\, but there is a more relaxed attitude to noise and movement. The house lights in the theatre are also adjusted\, so that it is not quite as dark as usual. There are also additional supports before and during the show including a designated relief area that can be used throughout your visit to take a break or watch the performance on video. \nAs part of this initiative\, YPT has created a video as well as a Visual Guide that provide a detailed description of what it’s like to visit the theatre. Patrons often find it helpful to review these with the young people they are bringing\, prior to attending a performance. \nTo learn about Antigone: 方\, click here.
