Harburg\nBackground Music by Herbert Stothart\nDance and Vocal Arrangements by Peter Howard\, Orchestration by Larry Wilcox\, Adapted by John Kane for the Royal Shakespeare Company\nBased upon the Classic Motion Picture owned by Turner Entertainment Co. and distributed in all media by Warner Bros.\nDirected by Joey Tremblay \nON THE MAINSTAGE APR. 4 TO MAY 15\, 2016\nRECOMMENDED FOR SK TO GRADE 8 | AGES 5 & UP\nIn this refreshing new take on the classic family musical\, Dorothy once again tries to find her way back home\, only to learn she must find ‘home’ within herself. \nDorothy and her dog Toto are caught in a tornado’s path and somehow end up in the land of Oz. There\, she meets some memorable friends and foes on her journey to see the Wizard whom everyone says can help her return home and hopefully grant her new friends their wishes for a brain\, a heart and courage. \n“Dorothy is a girl in search of her home. In a way\, she hasn’t realized the people in her life are trying to show that they are her home\, that she matters to them and that they’re her real – albeit chosen – family”says Allen MacInnis\, YPT Artistic Director. “But Dorothy’s adventure in Oz is as necessary as it is fantastical\, for she has to find “home” for herself. Some things children must be allowed to discover for themselves.” \nInnovatively arranged by Allen Cole and directed by Joey Tremblay\, this delightful new production features everyone’s favourite tunes\, including Somewhere Over the Rainbow\, We’re Off to See the Wizard\, Follow the Yellow Brick Road – plus a song that never made it into the movie version of the story: The Jitterbug.

SUMMARY:Relaxed Performance of Goodnight Moon
DESCRIPTION:This Relaxed Performance of Goodnight Moon is specifically designed for young people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Relaxed performances may include adjusted sound and lighting levels\, a designated relief area outside of the Mainstage theatre\, and additional support before and during your visit. \nWhen we held our first relaxed performance in the 2014/15 season\, we learned a great deal about how small changes and additions to the resources and environment provided can have a big impact. YPT’s relaxed performances are geared toward young people with ASD\, but are also suitable for all young audiences and can be an especially good introductory experience for first-time theatregoers. \n\n“I would like to thank YPT for taking on this initiative. At the relaxed performance I attended\, it was very exciting to see the kids and staff engage in such a safe and supportive environment. The thought and time put into the accommodations for those in the audience with ASD was very impressive. Parents and teachers bringing children with ASD to these performances should feel very confident that their experience will be very positive. This programming is an incredible opportunity to support all kids in the way that all kids need to learn!” \n    – Jan Fukumoto\,  Co-ordinator Autism Services\, Special Education\,\nToronto District School Board \n\nVisitors may find it helpful to watch this “Visiting YPT” video prior to attendance! \nRelaxed Performances Resources Booklet\nIf having difficulty downloading the resource booklet\, please right-click and save it to your desktop. \n \n  \n\nIn order to book your tickets\, please call our Box Office at 416.862.2222. \nFor more information\, contact Lois Adamson\, Member Schools & Education Manager at 416.363.5131 x224 or email ladamson@youngpeoplestheatre.org. \nTo visit the Goodnight Moon show page\, click here. \nTo visit YPT in advance of seeing Goodnight Moon\, register for Meet the Theatre on February 15th\, Family Day.
