DESCRIPTION:SHSM Arts & Culture Industry Workshop: Technical Theatre\nSpecialist High Skills Majors (SHSM) help students meet the requirements of the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD)\, while focusing on a career path that matches their interests and skills. YPT is facilitating a SHSM workshop in November\, 2017 – see below for details. \nSpend the day with industry professionals at YPT! \nThe day will start with the YPT production of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast\, followed by a post-show Q&A session with the cast. Students will then participate in a behind-the-scenes tour. Led by YPT staff members\, the tour will look at what it takes to mount a production with visits to our Props\, Wardrobe and Scene shops\, the lighting and sound booth\, and backstage. It will also include a history of the building and the company itself. SUMMARY:PA Day - Play in a Day
DESCRIPTION:PA Days – Play in a Day\nOur first “Play in a Day” program for students in January\, 2016. Here they are creating their own script with YPT’s Resident Artist Educator Ramona Gilmour-Darling while others rehearse for their mysterious play about the Bermuda Triangle.\nYPT is running full-day workshops on PA Days in the TDSB/TCDSB for children in Grades 1-3 and 4-6. Each full-day workshop will run from 9AM to 3:30PM with early drop-off available from 8:30AM. These sessions are being offered at the specially-discounted price of $40 to $56 per participant. \nParticipants will experience fun drama exercises led by great artist educators\, culminating in a collaboratively-created “play in a day”. DESCRIPTION:The Reading Room Program at SickKids\nRanger Ray\, Therapeutic Clown at SickKids & Ramona Gilmour-Darling\, YPT Resident Artist Educator.\nYPT works in partnership with the SickKids Family Programs team to facilitate The YPT Reading Room Residency\, a series of weekly workshops focused on creative play for children from 0-6 years of age. This residency is based on another program run by YPT with Parent Resources\, a family drop-in centre located in East Toronto. The residency consists of weekly hour-long sessions delivered over six to eight weeks. Led by an YPT Resident Artist Educator\, each YPT Reading Room Residency session explores a particular theme through reading\, dramatization\, song and craft making. The premise of each session aligns with the hospital-wide themes set by the Family Programming staff. The YPT Reading Room Residency  seeks to enhance and integrate learning and literacy among young children by using drama and play as a source for creativity\, emotional expression and sensory stimulation. \nThe Reading Room program at SickKids is a daily drop-in program for children from 0-6 years of age in the Family Centre hosted by a resident therapeutic clown. The program is accessible to all children in the hospital\, including siblings of patients receiving treatment. Every session of the Reading Room is broadcast live on the hospitals closed circuit system allowing any child to watch and participate wherever they are in the hospital and regardless of their physical health or ability.

SUMMARY:PA Day - Play in a Day
DESCRIPTION:PA Days – Play in a Day\nOur first “Play in a Day” program for students in January\, 2016. Here they are creating their own script with YPT’s Resident Artist Educator Ramona Gilmour-Darling while others rehearse for their mysterious play about the Bermuda Triangle.\nYPT is running full-day workshops on PA Days in the TDSB/TCDSB for children in Grades 1-3 and 4-6. Each full-day workshop will run from 9AM to 3:30PM with early drop-off available from 8:30AM. These sessions are being offered at the specially-discounted price of $40 to $56 per participant. \nParticipants will experience fun drama exercises led by great artist educators\, culminating in a collaboratively-created “play in a day”.
