DESCRIPTION:Artist Educators Training Part Two: Creating Engagement\n \nUpcoming Dates:\nFebruary 7 & 8\, 2019\n9AM – 5PM\n \nLocation: Young People’s Theatre\, 165 Front St East\, Toronto\, ON\nCost: $75.00 for two days\n(bursaries and travel subsidies available) \nRegistration Deadline: January 25\, 2019 \nRegister here. \nDetails: \nThe YPT Artist Educators Training Part Two: Creating Engagement is for artists and administrators with experience in arts education and a desire to further develop their skills in program development. \nThroughout the two days of training\, participants will work alongside one another and in collaboration with invited guests from the community to reflect on what constitutes strong arts education practice and programming. \nThis program will provide professional development for those interested in developing their own arts education projects in school and community settings across arts disciplines. \nAttending part one of the training is not a pre-requisite\, however this training is recommended for experienced artist educators and arts administrators. \nThis program is made possible through funding from the Ada Slaight Education Centre at YPT and the Ontario Arts Council.  \nIf you have questions\, or to apply for a bursary or travel subsidy\, contact Aimee Bouchard\, Community Programs Manager at abouchard@youngpeoplestheatre.org or 416.363.5131 x216.

DESCRIPTION:Children\, Youth and Performance Conference\nConnecting Drama and Performance Research to Practice in the Lives of Young People \nYoung People’s Theatre’s  ‘Children\, Youth\, and Performance Conference’\, will be held at our Toronto theatre location on Sunday\, June 24\, 2018. \nThis exciting conference will bring together educators\, scholars\, performers\, and practitioners from different areas of the world. SUMMARY:Cultural Gym: Intro to Collective Creation
DESCRIPTION:The Cultural Gym\, YPT’s newest community program\, is an opportunity for both children and adults to exercise their creative muscles! Cultural Gym sessions will introduce specific aspects of theatre and performance to help participants develop new drama-based skills. Four different sessions will be offered throughout our 2015/16 season\, each with a unique focus and led by professional artists. Come challenge yourself in new ways and be part of an artistic community! \nSession #2: Intro to Collective Creation with Rob Kempson\nFacilitated by one of YPT’s Resident Artist Educators\, Rob Kempson\, you will learn the basic techniques of collective creation (theatre created by a group around a given theme)\, including writing\, staging\, and performance. Each week\, the theme will change and so will the creation. \nNov 25th – 6:00pm to 7:30pm – Theme: Peace\nDec 9th – 6:00pm to 7:30pm – Theme: Hope\nDec 16th – 6:00pm to 7:30pm – Theme: Celebration \nParticipants:\nWe welcome children\, youth and adults to attend the program! Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by a participating adult. \nAbout Rob Kempson:\nRob Kempson is a theatre artist and educator\, working as a playwright\, composer\, performer\, and director. Rob was most recently seen starring in his Dora-nominated musical The Way Back To Thursday (Theatre Passe Muraille). As an artist-educator\, Rob has worked for a number of major school boards as well as Young People’s Theatre\, Canadian Stage\, Theatre Passe Muraille\, Pleiades Theatre\, Opera Atelier and Casa Loma. He works regularly as a community arts facilitator and curator\, collectively creating performances and interactive exhibits with community members. He is currently the Associate Artistic Director at the Thousand Islands Playhouse in Gananoque\, ON.\n\nRegistration:\nCultural Gym sessions are PWYC (Pay What You Can) with a recommended donation of $2 per session. \nSpace is limited.
